We had been listening keenly to weather reports for the past week or so, never knowing whether the forecasters would get it right?!  Yesterday morning we spotted a flock of around 30 Ibis’ on the side of a hill not [...]

Now we know it has been a long time between drinks, but this picture is truly worthy of a photo point update! We received around 43mls here overnight and early this morning. It’s the biggest flood we’ve seen down these creeks in a long while.  All smiles up here (apart from the odd grimace at [...]

It’s been a long time between drinks! This photo point was taken after we received 40 points of rain on Tuesday.  We also received 20mls of rain the weekend before however we were away so couldn’t show you any photos of the creek flooding in front of the rain gauge! If you look carefully though, [...]

Photo Point 22-09-08 - Dust storm in the Flinders Ranges

Today is just awful, I thought I’d take some pictures so you can get an idea of how revolting it really is! As I’m writing this I’ve noticed the sky has turned red. Much worse than in these pictures. It looks like a scene from Mars and is quite eery!
I think I’ll put my washing [...]

After receiving 50 points of rain a couple of weekends ago, followed by beautiful warm sunny weather, Moolooloo is beginning to green up at long last!  Great timing for school holidays…
Looks alot better than when we first started this Rain Gauge Photo Point in mid June!

Photo Point 6-08-08 - ok now I’m sharing :-P

I thought I’d better give you all an update…
I really should show my disgust in the weather more often! We had just shy of 20 points here yesterday in blustery fashion. YIPEE!!!!
So I’m not completely letting the weather off the hook by the way, but giving it it’s grace for this week at least!!!
Hoping [...]

I refuse to post a picture of the Rain Gauge photo point out of pure disgust!
Nothing is happening at all in relation to the rain…only a few meager spots here and there. When I went to take a photo I was really disheartened as it was clearly no different to the last snap!
Originally I [...]

Nothing exciting to report at all! It has been very cold here again this week, especially overnight and in the morning. The days have warmed up a bit with lovely clear blue skies.

Well it has tried to rain again this week. Only a small amount (16pts at the Homestead) measured but enough to keep the feed alive for a few more weeks. It has been freezing in the Flinders Ranges this week, especially at night. Please remember to bring your woollies if you’re heading up [...]

It has tried several times over the past week to rain but alas, nothing substantial to report – a meager 20 or so points over a few days. Better than a kick in the pants!!!
I am getting a little annoyed when I hear reports over the radio & TV that the recent rains over [...]

It has tried to rain today?! Poor old clouds couldn’t muster much more than light mist, I’m sure it’s forgotten how. We are desperately needing a rain to keep the feed going. It’s a bit of a battle as the frosts can kill most of this new vegetation. Not a good report [...]

Story of a Rain Gauge!

Photopoint 18/6/08
We have had a few spots of rain here today and as my husband is an ‘ideas man’ preoccupied with rain (as all good pastoralists and those in the rural industry are) he has suggested we have a section on our blog dedicated to showing those of you out there what our landscape looks [...]
